Taste the forest

How about a taste of what the forest has to offer? At Hafsrød, we offer a tailor-made forest box, with raw materials from Hafsrød and other skilled producers along the Halden Canal and the surrounding area. Taste the forest by trying our delicious moose stew, developed by gourmet chef Sebastian Engh at the top restaurant Curtisen in Halden, or the breakfast package – full of delicious products from Østfold.

Gaze at the stars

At Hafsrød we embrace the lack of light around us. Urban light pollution makes many of the stars invisible, but at Hafsrød you are a step deeper into the forest, where the vail is lifted.

Wander in
beautiful surroundings

Is there anything better than to put on your backpack and just wander for a forest hike? At Hafsrød the possibilities are endless, either you want to walk on a forest road, a path or freely in the terrain. I Norway we have “the freedom to roam”, which means you can wander (almost) anywhere, as long as you treat the nature with care.

We provide our guests with our secret and recommended hikes, adapted to your preferred degree of difficulty.

Paddling – a wave surge away

To glide through the water with nothing else but the sound of waves surging is something you must do at least once in your lifetime. At Hafsrød the paddling waters are all around you, and the canoe is ready for both short and long trips.

Safety first! You will of course be offered life jackets free of charge during your stay.

Gather your basket full

The forest offers many flavors, and especially during the summer and fall when it flourishes with colorful forest fruits. The berry picker and books about mushroom botany are ready for you, so that you can secure this year’s edible forest goodies.

Hunt in the

Hunting at Hafsrød has stood strong in many generations and is still a part of our philosophy about harvesting and managing the nature. We offer hunting terrain and a roof over your head and provide you and your hunting companions recommendations for a better hunting experience.
