Hafsrød was Green Key-certified in December 2021! We became this after a long process where we had to look at many work areas in tourism, with a goal of minimizing our climate footprint.

Green Key is an international environmental certification for accommodation, and has over 3200 certified hotels and accommodation in over 65 countries!

What does this mean for Hafsrød? This means that we are checked that we meet strict environmental requirements within environmental management, personnel involvement, guest information, water, washing and cleaning, waste, energy, food, indoor climate, outdoor area, social responsibility, environmental activities, administration and conference.

Forestry management for the future

Did you know that forestry on Hafsrød is also environmentally certified? Through the certification scheme for forestry, called PEFC Forestry Standard, we follow strict requirements when we make forestry measures on the property.

This certification scheme means, among other things, that we take paths and cultural monuments into account, and set aside areas that have important qualities for biological diversity.

Why do we get certified?

Certification schemes are tools that make us set stricter requirements for ourselves than Norwegian laws and regulations require, and make us go a step further. We want to challenge ourselves on how we can run Hafsrød even better. Then the certification schemes are good tools for seeing ourselves in the cards. Therefore, we hope that this can contribute to more people being able to choose sustainable destinations in a simpler way, so that it pays to work with nature.
